Treasury Forum

ESX will be a key part of a broader ecosystem of institutions, markets, and participants that make up a functioning Ethiopian capital market ecosystem. As part of its market development and product and solution portfolio, the ESX is keen to contribute its own share of market development, human capacity building, and various other interventions that are vital for the development of sustainable Fixed Income (debt) and money market, thereby capital markets in Ethiopia.

As part of its market development and product and solution portfolio, the ESX is keen to contribute its own share of market development, human capacity building, and various other interventions that are vital for the development of sustainable Fixed Income (debt) and money market, thereby capital markets in Ethiopia.
As a key anchor to its market and capacity development efforts, ESX, in collaboration various stakeholders including the National Bank of Ethiopia and Ethiopian Bankers Association aims to support the establishment of Treasurers forum. Among others the forum will serve us a platform for policy and reform deliberations, forum for capacity building of the stakeholders as well as permanent platform for exchange of information.
One of the key drivers to the success and development of the money and fixed income markets in other peer countries such as Kenya and Uganda has been the establishment of Treasury and or Bond Market Associations that bring together the key stakeholders in these markets.
During the first session of the treasury form Sponsored by FSD Africa, the group discussed on the current state of the interbank market and future plans by the NBE (the main regulator of the inter-bank market) and the ESX (trading infrastructure provider). Explored experiences from Treasury Association Chairman of Uganda, with a particular emphasis on the evolving function and opportunities that will be presented to Treasurers with the upcoming launch of the capital markets.
Given this context, ESX in collaboration with key stakeholders plans to organize a Treasurers Forum Series. In the long run, its envisaged that the Forum will evolve into forming a formal ‘Treasurers Association’ to provide a platform for treasurers, financial professionals and stakeholders to enhance their knowledge, develop critical skills, and foster meaningful connections within the industry.
